Every website designer out there will say they can build you a website. And they (hopefully) can.
But there’s a big difference between just ‘a website’ and ‘a website that looks good, works properly and is accessible for everyone’ – and if you want your business to thrive, it’s the second type you need.
As a first-generation child of the internet, the digital world has been my playground for years. I genuinely wouldn’t know how to function without Google and would rather not know how many years of my life I’ve spent in front of a computer screen…
But the one thing that I hate about the internet is how much stuff there is out there that isn’t even remotely good.
Whether it’s terrible design that pains my soul or failed plugins that take me nowhere or websites that straight up don’t work for anyone with any sort of neurodivergence or physical impairment – the internet is full of websites that aren’t doing their business any justice whatsoever.
And that’s the pet peeve that led to Cariad Creative’s one goal: to build websites that look good, work properly and are accessible to everyone.
Hi, I’m Katrina – your personal web designer
I’m the face, the brains and the technology-wrangling person behind Cariad Creative.
I’m a website designer based just outside Cardiff (if you’ve seen Gavin & Stacey, you’ll be familiar with Barry – I live there!). I have a degree in English Language, I’ve worked in IT Marketing, and I love all things bold and bright. I’m a married half-Mauritian (hence the obsession with sun, sea, sand and cocktails), I have a daughter, and I watch far too many reality Netflix shows.
I started Cariad Creative over 11 years ago now (when the internet was a mystical world where Skype, MSN and Facebook reigned supreme), and it’s been a wild ride.
In those 11 years, I’ve built hundreds of websites – but I’ve also struggled with severe anxiety and navigated a whole new world in raising our visually impaired daughter.
Despite being only a handful of years old, my daughter has been the driving force that has propelled Cariad Creative to where it is today.
I’ve always loved building websites, but now I love building accessible, functional and beautiful websites that help to create an online world that my daughter (and everyone who’s physically impaired or neurodivergent) can enjoy without restriction.

At the end of the day, a beautiful website is useless if people (ALL people) can’t use it properly. When I design websites, I do so with inclusivity and accessibility front-of-mind, so that everyone can appreciate your business. Aesthetics AND accessibility, without compromising on either.
…honesty and friendliness
We’re all humans here, so why pretend we’re professional robots? When you work with me, you get the real me: from the millennial-me daydreaming about the 00’s to the mum-me packing lunches and doing infinite loads of laundry. I’m an open book with a normal, messy life!
…sharing knowledge
There’s a misconception out there that WordPress is too complicated for non-techy people to use – and it’s my mission to prove that wrong! I build WordPress websites that don’t need an IT-degree to use. I break down the mysteries and share everything you need to know about your website.
